Allyson Felix and David Oliver win 2010 Jesse Owens Award

 
















Allyson Felix, who is a track and field favorite in the 400m, 200m and 100m sprint events, has made her mark not only on the track but in history. Winning this prestigious award for the third time in her career Felix is a top contender in the 200m  with the second fastest time in the world of 22.03. Us track and field fans look forward to her upcoming indoor season. As for David Oliver, this is his first time winning the award. Undefeated for 15 races straight this summer, Olive dominates his event, the110m high hurdle. Standing at 6'2 this 205lb muscle bound man has definitely given veterans in this event, such as previous record holder Terrence Trammel, a scare. This season will definitely be one to watch.

TYSON GAYE defeats USAIN BOLT in the 100m dash!!!!

As many people watched in awe it was hard to believe that current world record holder Usain Bolt had been defeated by USA's very own Tyson Gaye. As many know Usain Bolt has been known as an unstoppable force since the 2008 Beijing Olympics setting the record of 9.69. Tyson Gaye, who has been known as team USA's best competitor whose personal best is 9.71, have been riding Bolt's coat tails for quite sometime. He has finally stepped up showing that he's determined to gain the number spot. In this summers Diamond League games Gaye pulled ahead of Bolt and managed to defeat him for the first time. While Bolt of coarse complained that he wasn't at his best, Gaye takes the win as a sign that the best is yet to come and says he looks forward to future competitions against Bolt.

TEAM USA: Then and Now

Track and field greats such as Florence Griffith Joyner, who set the world record for the womens  100m race at 10.49 and Gail Devers, who also still holds the record for the womens 110m hurdle running a 12.33. Both women paved the way for current female all american track and field sensations such as Allyson Felix (100m, 200m), Sayna Richards (400m), and Lolo Jones (100m hurdles) who have all made a name themselves. Each claiming the number one position in their events. On the mens side we have Micheal Johnson, who ran the worlds fastest time in the 400m dash at 43.18 and Carl Lewis, who amazed the world he first ran a 9.86 in the 100m dash. These men also left a blazing trail for their successors to follow. Tyson Gaye (100m), Wallace Spearmon Jr. (200m), Jeremy Warner (400m), and David Oliver (110m hurdles) have managed to set new world records consistently. Its safe to say the those legends of track and field have definitely left a lasting impression, inspiring the current leaders to strive for gold.
